What We Are All About

Group of friends enjoying a sunny day on a Malibu boat at sea.

Our Mission

Changing lives one wave at a time!

The goal of Brave the Wave is to bring together the adaptive community through the sport of wakesurfing. When teaching individuals with physical disabilities how to wake surf we have seen a transformation in their world realizing as humans we are capable of doing so much more than we ever thought possible.

Come join as we travel the United States to challenge yourself, push the limits, and find the stoke!

What Inspires Us

Truthfully, YOU inspire us!! As simple and cliche as that sounds  if it was not for you we would not be able to host these amazing events. With every event being sold out to date we have realized creating this community around wake surfing is something really important to our riders!

How We Started

Meet Lexi! Lexi lost the lower half of her left leg when she was 16 from a boating accident, but what she never lost was her love for water sports! As Lexi faced new challenges of becoming an amputee she quickly realized the amazing power of water, pushing the limits, and share the stoke with others! Lexi quickly fell in love with the freedom wakesurfing brings to those of all abilities! She created Brave the Wave to share the sport of wakesurfing with the adaptive community around the United States! Come hangout with Lexi and our amazing BTW crew at one of our many events to see just why we love this sport and our community so much!

Where we have shared the stoke

Watch Lexi's story

At the young age of only sixteen, Lexi Kuppler experienced a life-altering accident that resulted in the amputation of her left leg below the knee. But rather than allowing her disability to define the rest of her life, Lexi has used her circumstances to create a dynamic new organization that invites amputees and physically disabled individuals into the water to experience wakesurfing and the personal empowerment that the sport offers. This is Lexi's Truth On The Water.
