We have created registration pages through Eventbrite. We ask you to answer all required questions in the registration for your participant prior to the event in order to attend the Adaptive Wakesurf Tour.
This event is for individuals with physical disabilities such as limb loss or limb differences. We hope to expand this event to those with intellectual challenges in the future as we grown and expand more. Right now we are only able to provide this event to those with a physical disability.
Glad you asked! Wakesurfing is a low impact water sport done behind specialized boats with inboard propellers only. Wakesurfers us a board similar to an ocean surfboard and a tow rope to get up behind the boat in the boats wake. Typically while riding the boat will travel at a casual speed of 10-12 mph. We encourage you to watch some videos on wakesurfing before attending to have a better understand what wakesurfing is!
Our events have some of the best wakesurfing instructors and volunteers to help you learn or enhance your wakesurfing skills!
Not a problem! A cool aspect of this event is we provide different prosthetics you can test out while wakesurfing!
Key notes: To make this possible you will need to make sure you can submerge your socket in the water. We recommend wearing some sort of tight pants ( such as wet suit pants/shorts, leggings, etc.) to ensure your prosthetic leg has the best suction to you as possible while riding!
Of course! We require one legal guardian for any minors joining us to surf! Due to boats having a capacity limit we can not promise more than one person will be able to join on the boat at the same time. You can however switch it up mid day when we stop for lunch.
Plan for a day in the water and sun! Towel, Sunscreen, if you own your own life jacket ( otherwise we will provide this!), Sunglasses, Hat, Bathing suit
This event is designed only for those with a physical disability to have the opportunity to learn how to wake surf. Due to the high enrollment of our participants we are not able to provide wakesurfing to friends or family members. Check out one of our sponsors Tommy's FREE surf gate tour to see if they have any dates you and your family could go out to surf all together!
We provide lunch to for all our participants, volunteers, family, and friends. When you register be sure to put down all friends and family members planning to eat lunch with us. This helps us to plan for enough food at our events! If you know you have food allergies please plan accordingly with your own food.
Each event is run a little different! We will send you an e-mail the week prior to the event with an event schedule to give you a better idea what your day spent wakesurfing with us will look like!
We hope you are excited and can't wait to have you join us at one of our tour stops!
Welcome to the home of Brave the Wave! Thank you for joining us for an epic year on the water! The stoke levels were HIGH and the shredding was EPIC! Join us by reaching our end of year fundraising goal for Giving Tuesday!
